Wanted to advise everyone of the passing of one of the club members from the

beginning days.  Don Gellert.  He passed away in February.  He lived in Bright

during his club days but moved to Batesville area in his retirement years.

Our thoughts are with his wife Mary and his children and their families.

Always had a good time at club events with Donnie & Mary. The dances back in the day &

the hog roasts at Ron Fry's homestead.

RIP.

Snowmobile meeting was held on Tuesday  3/1 at  the Country View Club House with 15 members present.  previous notes from the February meeting were read along with the financial report.

We thought we would have more snowmobile trips to report on this month, but it seems Mother Nature didn't lend a very good helping hand these past 3-4 weeks and all Snowmobile Club trips were canceled due to warming temps and lack of good ridable snow in most areas of Michigan & Wisconsin. but...  Dave Metz , Don Klapper & Ray Suesz attempted to go to Crivitz,Wi on there annual trip the week of 2/22 -2/26 only to find once they arrived that the trails were closed. a call was made to Winneconne,WI  were they had received a good amount of snow earlier in the week and trails were to be opened. but again once they arrived trails were still closed, so to make the best of what they had, they trailerd to lake Poygan and rode between the establishments on the lake all week and managed to do 21 total miles.

The Club would also like to welcome 2 new members who joined the Club since the last meeting:  Kevin Brown (family) & Bob Hensley (family)

In closing the club will have one more meeting in April on the 5th it will also be the Spring Cookout too, Debbie Zimmer will e-mail everyone when the next meeting gets closer to confirm this date and to let us know if we need to bring a side dish along as well.  we will also post it here.  see everyone in April.

Hey all, Michigan Senator John Moolenar is looking for support, he has set up a online petition on his website to try to keep the Huron National Forest from being closed to Snowmobiling and Hunting! if you have ever riding in these area's in &  around the forest, you know how much these town's would suffer if it passes. here's a link to vote.

Club meeting was held 2/8 at the Country View Club house with 12 members present. the financial report, past club trips and up-coming trips were discussed.

Munising,MI

members Jerry Rhea & Gene Hensel went to Munising,MI during the week of 1/ 9 - 1/14, reported conditions to be very good along the lake where area's of the LES snow bands piled up for very good riding. during a southern ride towards Newberry conditions became worse and thinned as they got farther from the heavier snows in the northern parts of the UP. riding more west and northwest towards Big Bay, Marquette, Gwinn provided better riding the rest of their trip, were they put on a good 400+ miles during the stay.

Curtis,MI

The club trip for 1/12 to 1/15 was moved to Munising,MI for low snow conditions in & around the Curtis area. with a call from members Jerry R. and Gene H. already in the Munising area riding, club members Jeff Muenchen, Terry Zimmer, Gary Vorbroker & Ralph Janzen found the riding to be very good for their stay also.

Pickerel,WI

Club members Jerry Rhea, Tom Miller, Dan Puckett, Ralph Johnson, Rob & Rita Seig, Jackie Wilhelm and 3 Guest ( JR,  Bobby & Lisa) went to Pickerel,Wi 1/25 to 1/29. riding was very good early week, but  with some thin spots in certain area's & icy corners. by weeks end trails became rough and washboard like with weekend traffic, some rocks showing thru on the R R grades making the last days ride a tough one. all in all the trip was good with plenty of miles rode, some break downs, a few missed corners, 2 engine failures, one flip and a great time by all.

Eagle River,Wi

Club trip planned for 2/2 to 2/5 was canceled and will be re-scheduled for later this month.details on this trip will be discussed in March at the next meeting.

Elkhart,IN

Club member Joe Eagle & Rick Andres took a weekend trip to Northern Indiana on 2/4 - 2/5 to ride the Miami Snowmobile trail in Elkhart,IN after the big snow storm that hit Chicago earlier in the week dropped  a good 18-24 inches in places across the northern part of Indiana. trails were reported to be very good, riding was great and the weekend traffic was very minimal. Joe and Rick reported 90-100miles, for a day and a half riding on the weekend.

Also,  Members Jerry Rhea & Gene Hensel look be headed to the Cadillac / Baldwin, MI area during the week of 2/20 to 2/25 as long as snow conditions & temps stay at their current rate. look for reports on this and any other trips next month.
